Meditation can feel distant from everyday life.

These impressions are common, and they’re often why people hesitate to begin.

At SoLabs, the meditation we talk about is neither religious nor about spacing out. It’s a gentle practice of bringing your attention back to the present moment.

Nothing special is needed. You’re simply practicing—returning to yourself when emotions rise or thoughts feel scattered.

Your attention may wander, and you do not need to feel steady or calm to try noticing the present moment.

Do you need to feel bad about meditating?

You might wonder:

I don’t feel particularly uncomfortable. My emotions are fine.

Do I really need meditation?

At SoLabs, we don’t see meditation as something you only use when something is wrong.

Some people make a short pause part of a personal routine. That does not make meditation a health requirement.

Meditation need not be limited to low moments. You can practice returning your attention to the present without expecting it to stabilize your mood.

It’s a form of everyday care—for both mind and body.

How does mindfulness begin in SoLabs?

In SoLabs, mindfulness practice takes two forms:

formal practice and informal practice.

Formal Practice

This means setting aside a dedicated period of time for yourself.

Find a quiet, comfortable place—sit or lie down—and follow along.

Placing your attention on a simple sensation, called an anchor—such as your breath, to return to when your mind wanders.

Set aside new messages or tasks for a moment and notice your present experience. This is a change in attention, not a shutdown of information processing.

Your anchor does not have to be the breath. A neutral bodily sensation or a sound can be an alternative if focusing on emotions feels uncomfortable.

Informal Practice, on the other hand, happens in daily life.

Meditation isn’t just for moments when you "sit down to practice".

While safely seated as a passenger, standing still in a safe place, brushing your teeth, or reading these words, you can briefly notice the present moment. Save guided practice for a stationary pause, not driving, cycling, crossing roads, or any task that needs your full attention.

This kind of practice requires no preparation and no correct answers.

It simply helps you return to the present moment, again and again.

If you are not sure how to begin, the SoLabs App offers optional meditation, breathing guidance, and sound content. Choose what suits you; no particular feeling or result is required.

If you choose audio for your practice, you can explore SoClip Pebble as a listening option. Mindfulness itself does not require a purchase or a particular device.

Starting with small moments is enough

If you’ve never practiced before, it’s normal to feel unsure about how to bring your attention back.

Remember: you don’t need to change anything all at once, and you don’t need checkpoints.

Today, you can begin with a small moment: seated safely as a passenger, stationary in a safe place, brushing your teeth, or resting before sleep.

Even a few minutes is already space you’re giving yourself. In SoLabs, meditation isn’t something you need to “master.”It’s simply a way of gently returning to yourself.

Let's begin together.

Practice Safety and Support

Guided content belongs to the App, not earbud firmware; a device is optional. Practice only while safely stationary. Stop if uncomfortable, open your eyes, and return to natural breathing or a neutral sensation. Persistent or disruptive distress deserves professional support; meditation does not replace care.
